Scheduling & How to Prepare for Your Appointment
Matt’s schedule is available on his online appointment calendar.
Arrive on time clean, rested, drug & alcohol-free. Don’t use lotion or other skin care products in the area to be tattooed. Do not shave the area to be tattooed. Do not drink excess coffee or caffeine.
Matt cannot tattoo a person who is currently taking antibiotics, blood thinners, or medications that suppress the immune system without medical clearance from your doctor. This includes any over the counter or prescription medications that contain Naprosyn or Naproxen (Aleve), Aspirin (Excedrin, etc) or Ibuprofen (Advil). Any anti-inflammatories or blood thinners can cause excessive bleeding during the tattooing process. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is fine to take before getting tattooed. Please ask in advance if you have questions about any medications or supplements you want to take or are prescribed and how they may affect the tattooing process if at all.
Matt cannot legally tattoo a person who has a communicable disease (even a common cold). He cannot tattoo a person who has a disease or disorder that may conflict with the ability to withstand the tattoo process including healing without medical clearance from your doctor. Matt cannot tattoo anyone pregnant or nursing. If you have concerns about being a suitable tattoo candidate, please include this information in your new project request form.
Eat a healthy meal no more than 4 hours before coming in, preferably within 2 hours of your appointment. Feel free to bring a snack and something to drink for longer sittings.
Wear comfortable clothing. Be sure to bring appropriate and comfortable garments or undergarments to change into if required for your tattoo placement choice. Remember tattoo ink stains and doesn’t come out easily. Please choose clothing accordingly.
Bring your ID. The state requires a current government issued picture ID, driver’s license, or passport for anyone who gets tattooed. No exceptions.
Aftercare
Aftercare will be discussed with you by Matt at the end of the appointment. Remember that you should not get your new tattoo soaking wet or expose it to sun for 2-3 weeks after the tattooing process. This is especially important if you have vacation or travel planned immediately following your tattoo.
